One of the ways The Dwelling preaches the gospel is through the Baptismal Connection of showers.
Water is holy and restorative.
Recognizing the baptismal connections of access to a shower, the most basic human luxury, The Dwelling stewards a mobile shower ministry where persons experiencing homelessness are able to be washed and renewed as a reminder of their belovedness. There is healing and dignity that comes with the gift of water, and The Dwelling, with the help of local partners and volunteers, will be stewards of that gift.
Especially during this Covid-19 time, the mobile showers have become an essential way we are responding to the needs of our neighbors. We've made showers available every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30a-11:30a, at the Community First Center in partnership with City with Dwellings.
Extra donations for underwear, socks, t-shirts, and toiletries are especially appreciated at this time!
During the winter shelter season, the shower may accompany the four shelter sites used by City with Dwellings, meaning each site will have access to showers one night a week.
In addition to this, and on the off-season, we have scheduled days for the shower in addition to pop-up hygiene ministry “fairs”.
