All About Community...
Here at The Dwelling, we are re-imagining church. We want our focus to be on what ministry could be, not what it has looked like in the past. This is true all the way to the core of our church. As we focus on ways to raise sustainable support, we want our fundraising efforts to be relationship-driven as well... after all, what is the most scarce resource in Western Society today? In our minds, it is true and deep friendship. A community where you have friends that feel like family, and where you feel truly, wholly known.
Imagine the table at your home, flickering with candlelight, filled with your closest friends, enjoying a great meal, full of laughter and shared memories. It's probably something you have wanted to do for years, but you never quite getting around to setting a date, cleaning the clutter on your dining room table, or planning a menu.
Sometimes we just need a nudge to do something we've been wanting to do for a long time! Perhaps a Supper Club gathering to benefit The Dwelling is just the push you need!

Why Supper Clubs?
The Dwelling is a different type of community. While we work hard to bring meaningful change to Winston-Salem, we also center relationships in everything that we do. We don’t believe in a one-and-done interaction, whether that’s with neighbors we serve with our shower ministry, or neighbors that we are approaching to ask for help supporting our budget. The real holy moments happen within friendships, around the table, with breaking of bread and discovery of common interests.
We truly believe that in today’s society, our largest and deepest area of poverty is in real community. Friendships that provide a safety net to people of all socio-economic statuses.

This is why we are starting this supper club initiative. Our hope is not only that we can reach people who are able and willing to support The Dwelling, but that we start encouraging small circles of true friendship within our city, around your table. It’s our hope that this may be the first time you as a group meet for a Supper Club, but that it isn’t the last. And that this dinner will build more than just support for The Dwelling, but that it will open our imagination for what real community building can look like all across the city.
